Subcutaneous Injections with Adjuvant into Mice and Rats

(Protocol summary only for purposes of this preview site)

Subcutaneous injections are a good route to deliver larger volumes of antigen by using multiple injections at different sites. The antigen is absorbed more slowly, draining into the lymphatic system and making its way to lymph nodes, where it can stimulate B and T lymphocytes. Professional antigen-presenting cells, like Langerhans cells, located in the tissue just below the skin will also take up the antigen.
